Pletcher won the 2010 Kentucky Derby with Super Saver and trained Rags to Riches to win the Kentucky Oaks in 2007 and Princess of Sylmar for win the 2013 Kentucky Oaks. He won four straight Eclipse Awards as top trainer from 2004-2007 and again in 2010. He has trained multiple Eclipse champions including Uncle Mo, Ashado, English Channel, Speighstown, Fleet Indian, Wait a While, Lawyer Ron, and Left Bank.
The son of a jockey, Smith, rode in his first race at age 11. In 2005 Smith guided Giacomo to a win in the Kentucky Derby, and in 2013 rode Princess of Sylmar to victory in the Kentucky Oaks. He has won both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes and 17 Breeders' Cup races, including three Classics. He has won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey, the Mike Venezia Memorial Award, the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, and was inducted in the the Hall of Fame in 2003. Mounts include: Azeri, Zenyatta, Holy Bull, Skip Away, Thunder Gulch, and Lure.
King of Prussia Stable
King of Prussia Stable owns 2013 Kentucky Oaks winner Princess of Sylmar. Ed Stanco races under the name King of Prussia stable. He is the CEO of White Mountain Insurance Company based out of Pennsylvania. He has previously been involved in horse racing partnerships with So Madcapt Stables and campaigned the stakes winning Capeside Lady.
Princess of Sylmar is from the first crop of Majestic Warrior and became her sire’s top progeny when taking her stakes bow in the Busanda in early January.
Majestic Warrior also captured his stakes debut, the Grade 1 Hopeful in 2007, but that would be the last time he visited the winner’s circle in seven total starts.
The bay exited a disappointing sixth-placing in the Grade 1 Champagne with a hoof injury and was never the same following that.
Majestic Warrior is also the sire of Grade 2-placed Seasoned Warrior and Grade 3-placed Drum Roll.
Princess of Sylmar is the first registered foal out of the stakes-placed Catienus mare Storm Dixie , who is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Rhythm Band and Grade 3-placed Musical.
